The project is located in San Joaquín de Flores, Heredia. Although the location is a suburban area, the owner had the idea of generating a very quiet space that would serve as an escape from daily stress. A place where he can go, disconnect from reality and have peace of mind. In addition to the peaceful place, he requested a private place to practice meditation and a place to have social gatherings when needed.
But the most important fact was to be careful that none of these spaces interrupted each other. In this way we begin to weave different layers of sensations to meet the challenge of finding a way to have an isolated space, but at the same time very well connected with the natural environment to take advantage of the tranquility it grants.
With all this in mind, we managed to establish a set of small modules for the different activities that the owner wanted: rest, meditate and socialize.
The first module is a small but very comfortable room, with nothing but gardens surrounding it. In this way we managed to have the feeling of freedom within the private space. In addition, the open gardens enrich the interior space providing spectacular views, as if you were sleeping in the middle of the garden.
The second module: a Yoga Shala; designed in a wooden structure to feel connected to nature and also surrounded by small gardens that at the same time are connected to the third module by a wooden bridge with a statue of Buddha. This Yoga Shala is designed with a two-level roof that increases the feeling of spaciousness that opens up to the sky. Meanwhile, a thin layer of semi-transparent curtains provides the privacy necessary to practice meditation in the center of the garden, feeling the fine and warm texture of the wood.
The third module contains a very simple and ample space so that different social meetings can be held. The idea of keeping this place simple was not to take center stage Yoga Shala.
