This project was born with the objective of developing the retirement home for the owners, so they had a priority for the design: the enjoyment of internal spaces with comfort and ease thinking about future years.
In this way, within the architectural program of the project, a “terrace” or “courtyard” takes an special relevance since this space would articulate and capture all the important internal spots within the project. This is how the project developed in an introverted way but taking advantage in certain specific spaces to the magnificent view of the landscape towards mountains.
Although the project is a 2-level residence, the main spaces are located on the first level precisely because of the ease of accessibility (social areas, master bedroom and office). On the second level there are two secondary rooms, a craft room and two terraces: one to the north and one to the south, exploiting the magnificent views.
The courtyard takes on a special importance for its arcades, the double height, the incorporation of a fountain, its natural light and ventilation, the internal vegetation. In this way it works as a key piece that provides natural lighting and ventilation to the other spaces and generating a sensation of “outdoor space” inside the residence without being affected by the weather. Likewise, some wooden benches are incorporated to promote rest, relaxation, contemplation from a space that aims to facilitate the feeling of the outside within the shelter of the residence.
